Apple’s rumoured OLED iPad mini could cost around USD 200 more than the current model, but the figure is an estimate rather than a leaked price list. MacRumors reports that Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman expects a substantial increase and guesses a starting price closer to USD 799, against today’s USD 599 US baseline.

For UAE buyers, the useful distinction is between that US prediction and an actual local price. Apple’s UAE store currently lists the iPad mini from AED 2,499. Neither report establishes what an OLED replacement would cost here, so the suggested USD 200 increase should not be treated as a confirmed UAE surcharge.

A price prediction, not a confirmed USD 799 launch

Gurman’s sources reportedly indicate that the next mini will be considerably more expensive. The precise USD 799 figure is his guess. That leaves room for a different starting price, as well as changes to what buyers get in the entry-level configuration.

9to5Mac also relays Gurman’s report and raises the possibility of increased starting storage. It does not confirm a capacity change. Its coverage is another account of the same Bloomberg reporting, not independent verification of the price.

At USD 799, the increase over the reported USD 599 baseline would be roughly a third. That would make the mini’s compact size a more expensive preference, rather than simply a cheaper route into Apple’s tablet range. The final storage configuration would also affect any like-for-like comparison.

OLED does not settle the rest of the display specs

The screen is the expected headline upgrade, but an OLED panel alone does not establish the full display specification. 9to5Mac says it remains unclear whether the rumoured mini would match the iPad Pro’s tandem OLED technology, and reports conflict over support for 120Hz ProMotion.

MacRumors also lists an A20 Pro chip, a landscape FaceTime camera, redesigned speakers, and a water-resistant design among the expected changes. Those remain reported features, not specifications Apple has announced. In particular, the water-resistance report does not provide a confirmed rating.

The current UAE-listed mini has an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display and an A17 Pro chip, with no ProMotion. Those are the established specifications buyers can compare against, rather than assuming every feature of Apple’s more expensive tablets will reach the smaller model.

Where the UAE buying decision stands

Apple’s local comparison page lists the iPad Air from AED 2,999, AED 500 above the current mini. That gives UAE shoppers a verified alternative to consider today, but it does not tell us where the proposed OLED mini would sit in the local range.

The pricing report adds a new detail to earlier reporting on a possible 27 October iPad mini and touchscreen MacBook launch. MacRumors describes the expected unveiling as “on or around” that date, not a confirmed appointment. The tablet is separate from Apple’s reported HomeView smart-home hub plans, which concern a different product and timetable.

Has Apple confirmed the OLED iPad mini?

No. The OLED screen, hardware changes, launch window, and higher price remain reported expectations rather than an official product announcement.

Can UAE buyers order the OLED model yet?

The cited UAE store page lists the current A17 Pro model, not an OLED replacement. These sources do not establish UAE pre-orders or a local release date for the rumoured device.
